Guide to Men’s Shaving Products
Basic shaving can be quick and easy, just pick up a razor and drag it across your face until all the those prickly hair are gone. Though you might have been shaving for years already, this tip from dermatologists and a barber who’s been shaving men for decades might help you get the best shave possible.
It takes more effort and know how to really have a good shave. When you shave you should not keep on repeating the thrusting of the blade on your face or scraping it with a razor to take away all the facial hair. It is actually giving a good one pass shave on your face.
The idea here is to stop spending time running the razor back and forth on your face, but to spend time in prepping your skin for the razor. So you need to wash your face with a facial cleanser so that the protein in your hair will become soft. The softening oil in the hair is washed away if you use soap to wash your face.
Next is lather it up with a shaving cream or gel and let it stay there for about two to three minutes to further soften the hair and make a one-pass shave possible. The longer the lather stays on your face, the better, although spending time is not always practical.
To lather your shaving cream, you don’t just use your fingers but it is best to use a brush for it, which is another shaving product that you will need. A good brush really pushes the cream into the hair and makes it much easier to shave.
Don’t be fooled with a multiple blade razor. You only need a single blade hair to shave your beard admirably although some professionals prefer double blade razor, nothing more as long as you have prepped you hair properly. The important thing to keep in mind is of course using a razor that is sharp. Discard it if you see a nick in the blade. If you shave every day, change the blade every week or two. Since you need to change blades often, it is good to stick with an inexpensive single blade razor. The more expensive the blade like those three or five-blade razors the less likely you may be to change them as often as you should.
Another key to having a good shave is keeping the skin hot and moist. Use a moist towel to prep your skin and during the shave the moist tower will help you keep the hair soft. Kits are available with these tools to be able to do this.
It is important to shave with the grain or in the direction your hair is growing. If you do against the grain, you may get a closer shave but the razor ca burn or you can get inborn hair offshoots.
